What is the difference between a mechanical wedge anchor and a chemical anchor?
Mechanical wedge anchors rely on friction and expansion forces against the concrete hole walls. They are easy to install and load immediately. Chemical anchors (or adhesive anchors) use a polymer resin to bond a threaded rod directly to the concrete. Chemical anchoring does not create expansion stress, making it ideal for close edge-distance applications or weaker concrete substrates.
How do you prevent hydrogen embrittlement in high-tensile (Grade 8.8 / 10.9) anchors?
Hydrogen embrittlement is a critical concern for steel fasteners with hardness levels above 32 HRC. To prevent this, our production processes include post-plating baking stages. Galvanized fasteners are placed in baking ovens within 4 hours of electroplating, holding them at temperatures of 200°C to 220°C for at least 4 to 8 hours to drive out trapped hydrogen atoms.
